SIXTY YEARS MARRIED

Mr. Andy Romine and wife

Mr. Camper:---On the 16th, instant, Mr. Andy Romine and his good wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. And ye scribe was invited to dine with them on the happy occasion. The table fairly groaned under its load of good things and I am sorry that they cannot celebrate every day in like manner and let me be present. Mr. Romine is a native of our community and lives near the place of his birth, and has farmed all his life, and manages his farm himself yet, and believes in diversified farming. His unmarried daughter (the only one of a large family who has
remained at home) showed me a thrifty flock of sheep, including a number of nice lambs, so the rise or fall of cotton does not disturb his serenity.  I hope this clever old gentleman and his bride of sixty years will live
to celebrate their golden wedding and wish them much happiness in their intervening years.

NOTE: Andy Romine's wife is not mentioned by name in the above article! Andrew Romine married Eviline Jones, 8 March 1841, Lauderdale County, Alabama.
