PARUM - CALLAHAN - WALKER - WORD
Date: 5 Sep 2001
From: Glen R. Hale
Looking for information on the families of James W. Parum and Quevia Lucille "Vinnie" Callahan (his wife), and of H. S. "Choate" Walker and "Mattie" Martha Emily Word (his wife). The Parum family was in Culman Co., AL 1900. They moved to Lauderdale Co., AL., by 1904, when James died in a well cleaning accident. Vinnie remarried to Harden Gregory, and they are listed on the 1910 Lauderdale Co., AL census.
H. S. "Choate" Walker, b. ca. Jan 1868 AL. His initials MAY stand for "Hamilton Sheridan," but this is unproven! Is there a connection between he and Hamilton Walker who appears on the 1870 Limestone Co., AL census? Supposed to be Native American blood in either the Walker or Word family.
Mattie was the daughter of John Word and Lizzie Milton/Melton. Any information appreciated! My email: LLLHALE@YAHOO.COM

FRENCH
Date: 9 Oct 2001
From: Eleanor Spreitzer
I am attempting to find the names of the parents of my great great grandfather James French.  James and Elizabeth Rice French were married in Lauderdale County in l847.  We believe James' father was Jeremiah French - who died in Lauderdale County around l832.  However we have no documentation showing this.
Jeremiah French was the son of Benjamin French of Limestone County and later of Lauderdale County. We understand that Jeremiah and his wife (Jane?) died rather young and their seven sons and one daughter were probably sent to live with various relations.
Any suggestions as to how we might be able to confirm James French was the son of Jeremiah French - who by the way was the son of Benjamin French of Limestone County and later of Lauderdale County - will be greatly appreciated.

Looking for any information on Elisha Travis Johnson - I know he lived in the Tishomingo/Hardin/Lauderdale counties area in 1860 because he joined the 34th Conf Inf from Hardin County, but I can't find him there.  He may have come back in 1870 and then left for northern Tennessee by 1880.  Any information or leads would be appreciated.  Richard
